JEREMIA 42
42 Then Johanan the son of Kareah and Azariah son of Hoshaiah came with the chief officers and all the people, from the smallest to the greatest, 2 and they said to the prophet Jeremiah,
-Please, attend to our petition and pray to the Lord your God for all of us who remain. As you can tell, before we were many, but now we are only a few. 3 Pray that the Lord your God will show us the path we must follow, and what we should do.
4 Jeremiah answered them:

5 They said to Jeremiah:

"
13 "But if they disobey the voice of the Lord, your God, they say, 'We will not stay on this earth, 14 but we will go to Egypt, where we will not see war, we will not hear the sound of the trumpet, we will not go hungry , and there we will live ", 15 then pay attention to the word of the Lord, you who remain in Judah: Thus says the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel:" If you insist on moving to Egypt to live there, 16 the war they so fear will reach them, and the hunger that terrifies them will follow them closely to Egypt, and in that place they will die. 17 All those who are determined to move to Egypt to live there will die from war, famine and plague. No one will survive or escape the calamity I will bring down on them. " 18 For thus says the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel: "Just as my anger and wrath has been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so my anger will be poured out on you if you go to Egypt. They will become objects of curse, horror, imprecation and reproach, and they will never see this place again. "
19 »Remnant of Judah! The Lord has told them not to go to Egypt. Know well that today I give you a serious warning. 20 You committed a fatal error when you sent me to the Lord, your God, and they said to me: "Pray to the Lord, our God, for us, and tell us everything he tells you, so that we may fulfill it". 21 Today I have made it known to you, but you have not wanted to obey the voice of the Lord your God in anything that he asked me to communicate to you. 22 Therefore, know well that in the place where you want to reside, you will die from war, famine and plague. "
